NIDO A work for dance with live music
Premiere planned for: 2027, Heidelberg
A tree offers shelter to a bird. In return it asks for one thing only: that the bird tell it what it sees when it flies. It is a trade between the one who cannot move and the one who cannot keep still. A pact between what remains and what travels. Between what has roots and what has wings.
Synopsis
Nido sets out from that image to build a stage work in five acts — winter, spring, summer, autumn, winter — in which, through dance and music, we hear the bird’s news of the world, within a soundscape in constant transformation. Three musicians on stage build that landscape in real time, on a set made of tree.
The work springs from an urgent question: how can we recover our sensitivity towards the natural world in a time that seems to have lost it? Following the path of many Amerindian traditions, Nido looks for new metaphors to name our relationship with nature: not out of nostalgia or denunciation, but starting from the body, from sound and from image.
The map of the flights
The swallow makes three journeys — East, South and West — and each time returns to the tree to tell what it saw. Those routes have been published as an interactive map: forty-four places around the world, each with its own page, photographs and sources, in Spanish, German and English.
