“It’s important to begin listening, because only if we rediscover our surroundings through creativity can we rethink them.” — Ana María Estrada

Experimental poetry

Experimental poetry opens new possibilities for listening and develops new sonic poetics that combine art and advanced technology together with the most primal, ritual actions of the body and the senses.

Where does the poem begin, and where the music? What are the borders, ruptures, and semantic transformations between the two languages? In poetry, the voice has always been a fundamental instrument for reading aloud: poetry as song.

In contemporary and experimental poetry, the voice is not only the linguistic vehicle that conveys the poem, but also a rhythm born of the body, one that shapes meaning through intonation, bodily gesture, guttural sounds, and the properties of the voice as a material that resonates within a given space.

What a performance piece reveals to us is something more than a sum of poetry and music, or of poetry and visual art; it is a particular kind of tension between distinct perceptual dimensions. Contemporary art and poetry come together to create interdisciplinary pieces that make sparing use of both process and words alike, disintegrating meanings in search of a possibility of liberation: letting words be what they do.
