Guillermo Bocanegra in Argentina Presentation of the “Ciclo del exilio” project
Tuesday, November 27, 7:00 pm Sala Negra40
Summary
The project EL CICLO DEL EXILIO. Colombian Music for Solo Guitar is the design, study, analysis and editing of a sound and written record, released on compact disc, containing the solo-guitar work El Ciclo del Exilio by the Colombian composer Guillermo Rendón García. The written record is the CD’s inner booklet (120 pages), whose text gathers accounts in the voices of performers, musicologists, researchers and composers, together with two of Rendón’s foundational texts — Teorética del Arte and Antropología del Arte — now filtered through the interpretation of his work. This is a distinctive feature of the project: the philosopher is the composer, and the researcher is the guitarist, who investigates and applies the creator’s aesthetic and philosophical premises to his own performance.
The intended product is an audio-and-text document whose format — compact disc — aims to make a contribution in the academic sphere, in guitar practice, and in Colombian musical heritage.
The goal is to record, edit, publish and disseminate a compact disc with booklet of the work El Ciclo del Exilio for solo guitar, by the Colombian composer and aesthetician Guillermo Rendón García, whose staging and performance process is grounded in the composer’s own aesthetic thinking about his music.
