About Ensemble Modelo62
Ensemble Modelo62 is a chamber group devoted to promoting, creating, and performing experimental contemporary music. Offering audiences concerts full of intensity and energy, Ensemble Modelo62 combines commissions from young composers as well as more established names in the genre. The ensemble maintains an open-minded approach to a wide range of aesthetic currents, since building its own tailor-made repertoire is one of its central artistic goals. It also regularly organizes seminars, educational projects, and concerts featuring music by composition students from various institutions, to support the development of young composers.
Over the past six years, Ensemble Modelo62 has established itself as one of the leading ensembles for the performance of avant-garde music, giving numerous concerts every year, both within the Netherlands and internationally.
The ensemble has performed at festivals such as Nu Music (Stavanger, Norway), New Works Festival (Southampton, England), Darmstadt Festival für Neue Musik (Darmstadt, Germany), November Music (Den Bosch, Netherlands), and Gaudeamus Muziekweek (Utrecht, Netherlands), where it will be ensemble-in-residence for the 2016 edition. It has also strengthened its international ties through tours in Argentina (2013), Germany (2010), Belgium (2013), England (2010), Mexico (2014), and Norway (2011).
In 2014 the ensemble released the album “Multiple Paths” in collaboration with the Orpheus Institute (Ghent, Belgium), and in 2015 the Dutch label Attacca released its latest album, “Modelo Moves,” featuring music by Argentine and Dutch composers.
Its most recent visit to Argentina was in 2015, to perform the chamber opera “El limonero real” — by its director Ezequiel Menalled, based on the novel of the same name by Juan José Saer — at the Centro de Experimentación of the Teatro Colón.
