Jack Kerouac’s novel On the Road (1949-51) is a story of time, or of time as story. It was written in a ‘48 Buick convertible in which the writer joined the two coasts of the United States, fueled by whiskey and pills.

The novel stages a visual and sonic time: everything in it walks, marches, pushes forward.

The event On the Road is inspired by that particular way of driving through that shape of time.
