The Duo Stéphane Pecás
Émilie and Daniel began playing together in 2007, taking part in free improvisation sessions and within the Allogène Ensemble, based in Montreal, Canada. Among the activities they carried out together were performances of works by Frans Ben Callado, André Hamel, and Óscar Bazán, as well as improvisation sessions alongside the Quebec poet Réjean Thomas. In 2011 they formed the duo Stéphane Pecás.
Émilie Girard-Charest
Cellist Émilie Girard-Charest is known for her eclecticism: active in both classical music and interdisciplinary creations and collaborations, she has worked with artists of every kind, including choreographer Andrew Tay, filmmaker Khoa Lê, the team of “Théâtre l’Instant, Éponyme et Émergence,” multidisciplinary artist Vicky Tansey, as well as poets from the publisher “Poètes de Brousse.” Within several ensembles (Allogène, Supermusique, La Machine, Quatuor Eddie), as well as a soloist, she performs works from different eras and takes part in the creation of contemporary works. In 2004 she founded Ensemble Allogène, a group of variable makeup devoted mainly to the Baroque and contemporary repertoires, as well as to improvisation. Émilie is currently pursuing composition studies at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, in the class of Michel Gonneville.
Daniel Áñez García
Colombian pianist Daniel Áñez is currently pursuing doctoral studies in piano performance at the Université de Montréal with Paul Stewart. His research project centers on piano music by Latin American composers born in the 1940s. A great enthusiast for spreading contemporary music, Daniel belongs to the contemporary music ensembles Allogène and La Machine in Montreal, and to Ensamble CG in Bogotá. Among his most recent projects, in August 2010 he toured Uruguay and Argentina with composer Graciela Paraskevaídis, giving concerts in celebration of the composer’s 70th anniversary. Before beginning his graduate studies in Canada, Daniel received an honors degree as a piano performer from the Universidad de los Andes, where he studied with Ignacio Pacheco and Antonio Carbonell. Daniel won an Honorable Mention at the 10th Piano Competition of the Universidad Industrial de Santander in Bucaramanga (2005), and first place at the 3rd María Clara Cullell International Piano Competition in San José, Costa Rica (2004).
