Club del Dibujo. 15th Anniversary Days. 2002-2017. Friday 1 and Saturday 2 December, 2017. MAR, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo. Mar del Plata, Argentina. Free admission.

Drawing is a celebration, the pleasure of bearing witness to movement in action, or to the action of movement. Every displacement of matter leaves a trace — one that also marks time, in and of itself — fulfilling the simple mission of confirming the transitory state of everything that happens in the living, in the world, in the universe.

Drawing is eminently creationist; it is bound up with the emergence of forms, and therefore of ideas. It is a tool built into every human activity, and for that reason its future as a practice will remain safeguarded beyond any technology, beyond any catastrophe.

But these facts won’t stop us from thinking further about its reach, its uses, its philosophical and aesthetic scale. That’s why these Days are dedicated to reminding ourselves of the primordial status of drawing, beyond art and communication. A science of traces, of time and space, drawing still has much left to tell us.

That is what occupies us here: Club del Dibujo’s 15th Anniversary Days.
